Hall of Colossus

This is the hall that has taken the name from huge models of Dioscuri of Montecavallo that are displayed in the large hall in 19th century. The center has the plaster model of a stunning marble sculpture of the Giambologna’s Rape of the Sabine women. The artist created this sculpture as an exercise for carving three figures from one huge marble block. The panel paintings hung on the walls is another attraction of the hall and these are done by Bronzino, Domenico Ghirlandaio, Pontorma, Filippino Lippi and Perugino. Giambologna’s plaster is a beautiful depiction of the Florentine Renaissance wedding feast that portrays medieval streets and monuments. Madonna of the sea By Botticelli is a panel that one cannot miss in this hall.

Musical Instrument Museum

Galleria Dell ‘Academia is the best place for one if classical music, theater and opera excite you. The hall has Grand Ducal collection with forty instruments which are exposed in museum wing that is part of Luigi Cherubini Conservatory. This collection shows the relevance of music in the official celebrations held at Medicean Court.

Hall of the Prisoners and the Tribune

Hall of the Prisoners is the most popular section of Galleria Dell ‘Academia. The hall as Michelangelo’s unfinished work Slaves exhibited. There are arrangements of prisoners and also Tribuna of David exhibited in the call. There are a series of paintings after Tribuna of David which is a work by Alessandro Allori that depicts the vocabulary of the symbolism of the flowers.
