Coloured in yellow and golden hues by the desert sands around, this fairytale fort has a number of people still living and working within its walls. A tour of the royal section of the fort is also available for those interested in it, complete with audio guides.
Another one of the important places to see in Jaisalmer is Ghadsisar Lake. Ghadsisar lake was constructed some 650 years ago and it was once the main water supply of Jaisalmer.<readmore> There are boat rides offered to enjoy the serene beauty of the lake in this pleasant location. The lake was made as a water conservation tank during the reign of Maharawal Gadsi Singh. Are there any religious or holy places near Jaisalmer?
Jaisalmer has an abundance of temples that are fairly ancient and known fo their carvings and sculptures. It is home to the very big Jain temples constructed in the 12th century.
