Big Buddha In Hong Kong

The construction of the statue started in 1990 and it was completed in the year 1993, and has since been a major attraction. Tian Tan Buddha Hong Kong is the second largest outdoor sitting Buddha statue in the world, with the first one being in Taiwan. There are six smaller statues of Buddha on the same platform as the Big Buddha statue Hong Kong, facing it. These are known as the “The Offering of the Six Devas”. These smaller statues are depicted as offering various items such as flowers, incense, fruits, ointment, lamps or music. Each of these offerings are said to be a symbol of a virtue such as wisdom, patience, morality, meditation, charity and zeal.

The most important and famous landmarks inside the Big Buddha Park are the Bodhi Path and the Ngong Ping Piazza. The Bodhi Path will lead you up a steep staircase, which might be a tad too difficult to climb in a hurry, so make sure to take your time doing it. Once on the platform, you can see clear views of the beautiful Lantau Island, which is an enjoyable sight. It is one of the most important places of pilgrimage for Buddhists, and for tourists, it’s a place of wonder and beautiful views.

Big Buddha Monastery Worship

The Big Buddha Monastery is known for its religious and spiritual beliefs, and it attracts tourists from all around the world. While tourists might visit the monastery for its historic significance, they also get a chance to seek cultural experiences. There are stalls outside the monastery that provide the required ingredients to make offerings to Buddha. It is also believed that walking for about 15 minutes from the statue of Big Buddha takes one on a wisdom path that should be sought. It also provides a sight of the greenery of Hong Kong as the journey covers the path consisting of dense trees. This journey is peaceful, placid, and transfers one to a different world wherein they can imagine all the beauty around them.
