Art, history, architecture, fashion festivals, gourmet cuisines, scenic locales, luxurious shopping, we can go on and on and on about the sights and sounds that Paris has to offer and one still would not run out of places to see or things to do in this absolutely stunning French city. Even though it is a very tough job to narrow down and shortlist a few things that are a must do in this city, let’s take a look at some of the best things to do in Paris, from a whole lot that this city has to offer:
The Eiffel Tower: One of the most iconic wonders of the word, the Eiffel Tower has been the number one attraction of Paris, tempting visitors from all over the world to come and experience the sheer beauty of this architectural marvel. The Eiffel Tower means the same thing to Paris, what the Statue of Liberty means to New York or the Big Ben means to London, the ultimate iconic symbol of the land, worn like a badge of honour. Constructed by Gustave Eiffel in the nineteenth century, the tower was lit up to welcome the millennium. The display of lights was so gorgeous that now lights have been affixed permanently which are made to twinkle for duration of five minutes to mark every hour.
Notre Dame: The Notre Dame is as royal and regal as its name sounds. This cathedral is an architectural marvel and has witnessed many a ceremonies. From coronation of kings, to several prince and princes exchanging wedding vows, the altar of this cathedral is witness to a culturally rich history. Completed in the fourteenth century, this gorgeous cathedral suffered massive damage during the revolution and was then restored in the nineteenth century by architect Eugene Viollet-le-Duc. The architecture instantly transports you to an ethereal world of Christianity, grandeur and gothic ways of life.
Palais-Royal Gardens: The Palais Royal Gardens are an area of Paris that offer lush green foliage, a refreshing change from the hustle and bustle of the city. Earlier, the residence of royalty, these gardens are extremely beautiful and peaceful. It has flowerbeds, lines and lines of trees and also a water basin in the middle. These gardens are flanked by galleries on all sides. These are Montopensier Gallery in the west, Beaujolais Gallery in the north, Valois Gallery in the east and the Orleans Gallery in the south. Hidden behind the walls of the palace are a number of designer boutiques, of the like of Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs. One can shop here or grab a bite at the quaint cafes and restaurants that surround this area.
Though, these are some of the highlights of Parisian beauty, the beauty of Paris has earned it, its rightful place as one of the most beautiful and romantic cities of the world, so much so that many a couple even dreaming of tying the knot or at least having their honeymoon here! Paris is a beauty that must be experienced once in a lifetime at the very least!
