About Amber fort, Jaipur
Amber Fort is the most famous tourist attraction of pink city, Jaipur which is located at distance of about 10 to 12 kilometres which is short drive away from main city. The palace was beautifuly constructed by Raja Man Singh in 1592 Century and further construction was completed by Sawai Jai Singh in 18th century. The great palace was once used to be home to the proud maharajas of the region. Why is Amber Fort Famous?
The Amber Fort is famous as once it used to be the capital of dynasty before Jaipur. The outside of palace is built with red sandstone and marble that adds to the ancient history for architecture of famous monument which has influence of both Hindu and Muslim rulers. The inside of palace is also beautifuly constructed with famous buildings like Sheesh Mahal, Sukh Mahal, Shila devi Temple, Suraj Pol or Sun Gate, Ganesh Pol and Diwan-i-Aam. History of Amber Fort
Built by a series of the Rajput kings of Jaipur, this used to be the capital of their dynasty. The grand and beautiful architecture that can be observed at Amber fort is in the classical Hindu style, with giant ramparts, a number of different gates and cobbled streets on the inside. The Amer ka Kila has been declared as a World Heritage site and as such is now maintained quite well.

Made of red sandstone, Amber fort overlooks the beautiful Maota lake which was the fort’s source of water for so long. Going up the hill to the fort itself is a thoroughly enjoyable activity in good weather as the jeep rides tend to be quite fun, especially with friends and family.

The palace is divided into six main sections and four courtyards. Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, and the Sukh Niwas were made for specific purposes and to carry out royal events. The main entry to the palace is through Suraj Pol while Ganesh Pol is the main entrance to visit royal quarters.
Light and Sound Shows in Amber Fort
Though just walking around this historic place can be an intense experience, there are a few activities to do here as well. The most popular of these is the famous light and sound show at Amber Fort, an event that takes place every evening and tells the story of Amber Fort and the proud Rajputs in general. This is an extremely well-executed show and one of the highlights of a visit to Amber Fort.
