About Nepal Tourism

Replete with awe-inspiring wildlife, charming hill villages, golden temples, and magnificent Himalayan views, Nepal is truly a paradise located in South-east Asia in the midst of the Himlayan Ranges. Avail a Nepal tourism package, and get ready to experience its varied offerings at their best while savouring the view of splendid peaks, strolling around monasteries and stupas, and getting acquainted with Tibetan Buddhism. Either you are a nature lover, foodie, an adventurer, or just an explorer, its many cities like: Kathmandu, Patan, Pokhara, and others are meant to make the tourism in Nepal a delightful experience. Famed for its rich culture, diverse history, natural beauty, shrines, authentic cuisines, and adventure, especially trekking, this place is meant to explore once-in-a-lifetime. To make the most of this Nepal tourism, it is recommended to explore the nation during the celebration of festivals like: Dashain, Losar, Chhath, and others.

History of Nepal:

Nepal and its importance in the history of the Indian subcontinent often goes overlooked thanks to its enormous neighbour down south. But the truth is Nepal holds one of the most revered places when it comes to cultural heritage and spirituality. An interesting fact about Nepal is that although the entire region of India and Pakistan were once under the vast British rule, Nepal was never really colonised. It was only a semi-independent state, whose administrative matters were occasionally interfered by the British. Still holding on to most of its medieval era architecture, art, culture and traditions, tourism in Nepal introduces you with an eclectic mix of Newari, Gorkha, Malla, Shah and Tibetan heritages, untarnished by Victorian designs.

Heritage sightseeing in Nepal:

The first and foremost attraction that Nepal tourism comprises is its extensive range of historical monuments and religious structures. Among Hindu faith, Pashupatinath temple is the most revered shrine and visited by many. Boudhanath Stupa is for Buddhists what Pashupatinath is for Hindus. That shrine represents the map of Mount Meru – the centre of cosmos in Buddhist universe. Swayambhunath temple is of importance to both the faiths. It is important to remember about Lumbini – the birthplace of Lord Buddha. Other reputed locations on the Nepal trip are Changu Narayan, Nuwakot palace, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Square and the royal palaces.

Other major attractions in Nepal:

Kathmandu: Kathmandu is the capital of the country, the backbone of its economy and the centre of its tourism. It is home to some of the best Nepal attractions like Pashupatinath and Durbar square. It also keeps the shopping scene of the country alive during the day and the nightlife and casino scene during the night.

Pokhara: Pokhara is the second-most-loved destination in Nepal. The city is known for its various lakes and sprawling green lands, right at the foot of the Himalayas.

Bhaktapur: Bhaktapur is a small and friendly town. There isn’t much to see here, except the beautiful Durbar square and the Changu Narayan Temple. But walking around in the pristine city is a lovely experience in itself.

Nuwakot: Nuwakot is home to one of Nepal’s grandest palaces, which is now though diminished in looks due to after-effects of 2015 earthquake but not in its significance. Nuwakot Palace is famous for being the place where the plan to overthrow the Mallas were hatched by Gorkhas.

Lumbini: There is no need to explain why Lumbini is so important to Nepal and to the entire world. This is where Lord Buddha was born – it is the cradle of one entire faith in this world. Visiting Lumbini and the gardens is a great experience to have in Nepal.

Adventure in Nepal:

Nepal is extremely diverse when it comes to points of interest or exciting things to do. Right alongside all the spiritual places, there are many opportunities to soak in some spine-chilling adventure on an expedition to Nepal. The triple combo of bungee jumping, zipline flying and white water rafting in the Bhote Koshi River is a must-do. Besides that, there is a helicopter ride or panoramic flight on the Himalayas, paragliding in Kathmandu valley and lots of trekking routes all around Annapurna and Manaslu circuits. There is a cable car ride for 10 minutes up Chandragiri Hill from Thankot near Kathmandu.

Famous food in Nepal:

On an excursion to Nepal, while it is imperative to savour ‘dal bhat’, there are several other traditional Nepali dishes one must gorge on. While exploring the enticing landscapes of Nepal, do try sumptuous cuisines, like: Sel Roti, Gundruk, Bara, Chatamari, Yomari, and yes, momos, for sure!

People and culture of Nepal:

A potpourri of multi-cultures, there can be found inhabitants of many religions. Albeit, this country is known to be the only Hindu kingdom in the world, and Buddhism and Hinduism being the two main religions followed in Nepal, other religions, like Christianity and Islam are also followed here.

Main festivals in Nepal:

And hence, on a tour to Nepal, visitors can witness locals celebrating every festival with fervour. Some of the major festivals of the country are: Dashain, Tihar, Chhath, Losar, Christmas, Eid, Ubhauli, and more.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra:

Gear up for one of the holiest pilgrimages in the world while hopping on to the majestic pyramid of Mount Kailash. Trek through the surreal canyons to take a dip in the lake of Mansarovar and seek blessings of the lord. As thousands of devotees flock here every year, it is believed that worshipping the mountain and lake relives one from their sins of lifetime.

For a hassle-free Nepal tourism, keep this travel guide with yourself, and have a blissful journey in the midst of mountains.

India to Nepal Distance

Read about the best & quickest routes to save time & money, as suggested by our travelers

By Air

There are multiple flights from Delhi to Nepal on a daily basis, and many of them are direct. The nonstop flights are operated mostly by Air India, Jet Airways, Indigo and Nepal Airlines. Though, India to Nepal flight duration for these flights is around 1 hour 45 minutes, often the flights take longer to reach because of the layovers at Delhi. However, flights are the best means of transport to reach India from Nepal, especially if you are not from the northern part of the country.

By Train

The historic British-era Nepal train line running from Janakpur in Nepal to Jayanagar in India was shut down in 2014 and is currently under upgrade. Besides that, there are several India-Nepal railway lines, including ones connected with New Jalpaiguri, Jogbani and Nepalganj Road. For now, there is no direct India to Nepal train. However, Gorakhpur and Raxaul being the closest stations on the Nepal route, one can take trains up to there and make the rest of the journey by road. There are trains from Howrah Station near Kolkata to the Raxaul Junction at the border.

By Road

India to Nepal distance from Delhi to Kathmandu via roadway is around 21 hours. Coincidentally, this is also one of the better routes to get into Nepal. The most-used India-Nepal border is the one at Sunauli, Uttar Pradesh. This can be reached via Gorakhpur by train from Delhi. Other borders that can be used to get into Nepal are Raxaul which can be reached from Kolkata or Patna. Raxaul and Gorakhpur are the nearest railway stations to Nepal in India.

Visiting the stunning regions of Pokhara and Kathmandu, we were constantly amazed by the beauty of the Himalayas and the

Special mention must go to Santhosh, our driver, who was exceptionally helpful and friendly. His willingness to go above and beyond our expectations made traveling with a toddler surprisingly easy and enjoyable. His dedication truly enhanced our trip. Mr. Prabin has been so co-operative through out my journey, he attended each and every call of my tough he was with his family. HATS OFF TO PRABIN. Amit's 7 days trip to Nepal

I am recently back from my amazing week-long tour from Nepal. The memory is still fresh in my mind, and I am excited to share my experience with those who are reading it now. I normally book my tour through Travel Triangle platform who can connect me to more than one trusted and verified local tour
agencies to choose my favorite itinerary. This time it was Snowyoda Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., who came up with the best plan and quote. Sumit from Snowyoda assisted me with alterations as per my need and managing the entire tour plan and communications. The accommodations were perfect for me, transportations were comfortable enough. Both the local drivers, Rabi Thapa (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot) and Arjun (in Pokhara), were good, decent persons and flexible enough with timings and places to visit. Look, there is nothing new that I can add to Nepal’s beauty or pilgrimage values. But I can strongly recommend that the only two factors that can influence your experience are “the weather” and “your plan”. You can choose a good time to visit and expect mother nature to be merciful to you. And at the same time, you have to trust on someone experienced enough to plan your tour. I believe I made the best out of my time in Nepal, whether I was paragliding in Sarangkot or enjoying the lakeside serenity of Phewa Tal or simply sitting by the shrine of Pashupatinath ji during Arati. I thank Snowyoda because I never had to worry about anything else apart from what I am going to see next. I believe, Snowyoda will keep continuing to help people like me to return with blissful experiences from Nepal.

Phani's 8 days trip to Nepal

We spent 7 nights and 8 days visiting Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Jomsom (Muktinath). Mr. Abhishek helped us plan the trip, select hotels, and create an itinerary tailored to our needs. Initially hesitant in choosing an agency, I decided on Snowyoda after speaking with Mr. Abhishek. He exceeded our expe
ctations, being available throughout the trip to ensure we enjoyed a seamless experience. Any adjustments I made during the trip were accommodated easily. Our journey was smooth and hassle-free. I also want to highlight our driver, Mr. Santosh, who was very helpful and ensured our comfort throughout. Overall, the quality of the hotels, vehicles, and service delivery was exceptional, exceeding our expectations. Unlike many agencies that prioritize profit over customer satisfaction, they genuinely focused on providing a great experience. We highly recommend their services for a well-organized and enjoyable travel experience.
