Srinagar to Gulmarg Route

The city of Gulmarg is situated at a distance of mere 51 kilometers from Srinagar. Therefore, traveling by road is the best option to cover the distance from Srinagar to Gulmarg. There are many buses available that will help you proceed with the journey. Other means of transportation are also available, however, taking a bus or hiring is the most convenient medium. The best time to visit Gulmarg to have a spectacular skiing experience is during winter from December to mid-March. Those of you who are wondering how to reach Gulmarg from Srinagar should take a look at the following information. 

 

Srinagar to Gulmarg by Road: By Bus: The best way to travel from Srinagar to Gulmarg is by road.  To cover the 51 KMs distance between Srinagar to Gulmarg, you can travel by Srinagar to Tangmarg road. Local buses are available up to Tangmarg market from where the mini coaches or jeeps can be hired to reach Gulmarg. It takes approximately one hour and twelve minutes to reach Gulmarg from Srinagar. No AC bus is available on this route. The popular bus operators are JKSRTC Buses, TRC Srinagar.By Car: One can also opt to drive to Gulmarg from Srinagar. Since it is a short distance, one can easily cover it through a road trip as well. Whether you opt to take a taxi or drive yourself, it is recommended to enquire about the road conditions of the area, especially during winters.

    Overall experience was good. At Pehalgam we stayed at The Villagio as the one was chosen by us it was the best hotel. The hotel at Srinagar was Golden Sands which lacked good breakfast, dont forget to carry Shower gel, tooth brush etc. and warm clothes as they only provide a soap and Shampoo pouch a
    nd heater only from 7 to 10 and few hours in morning otherwise u have to manage with blankets. The driver Nasir was good in nature, apart from few hicups all was great and accomodating reporting to his boss every small thing .. our Tour guide Ms. Rida was always supportive, guiding us and always atttentive to our cause, even on sunday and one day where she needed to intensively communicate with transporter. We are satisfied with the response time and the services. However she did nt fulfill her promise of complimentary honeymoon package (Just a cake though) may be due to christmas eve.     The trip was good and overall it was a pleasant experience. Except for the cab driver who was not cooperative and didn't inform us about the locations and the local cab pricing. The people in Kashmir are sweet-spoken but, they do charge exorbitantly for every service/product and, you need to be good
    enough to bargain as the price quotes were almost 10x more than reasonable. The RoadToTrip agent - Pankaj Giri was very helpful and available when needed but, contacting him at every location was not feasible. The hotel and cab arrangements were well-managed.
