Rameshwaram is one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in India, and people from all over the country and from all walks of live travel to this temple town for seeking divine blessings. If looking for answers to how to reach Rameshwaram from Mumbai, read on to find out all the best ways one can do that. The Mumbai to Rameshwaram distance is around 1,580 kms, and it can easily be covered via train, bus or flight. Although there is no way to directly get from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by flight, one can take a flight to the nearest airport and carry on with their journey from there.

 

By Air: Although there is no airport at Rameshwaram, one can take a flight to Madurai, which is the closest airport. Madurai Airport is almost 170 kms away from the city center of Rameshwaram, and this distance can be covered via road transfers or trains, although local buses are most preferred. Hence, traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by air is not a plausible journey plan.

 

By Road: When traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram by road, the best options are local buses. There are very few direct local buses for taking people from Mumbai to Rameshwaram, and one might have to change buses a couple of times. For those looking to drive themselves, there is almost two whole days of driving to look forward to, if not more.

By Train: There isn’t any direct Mumbai to Rameshwaram train, but one can travel to Chennai or Madurai, and continue their onward journey from there. Traveling from Mumbai to Rameshwaram via train is the best option for sure. Not only is this option cheaper and more comfortable, it is also one of the easiest modes of transport to book.

    The trip was well planned. There was no rush or chaos at any destination. The driver Mr. Srinivas was very friendly and talktive.     m the Meenakshiamman temple and other places. Hotels at Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari was very close to hhe major tourist places almost at 5-15min walking distance. It really help us to explore the city even better. Overall it was an excellent experience of travelling without any tension. Entire trip was a best to preserve in our memory. One thing I would like to mentioned is the local south Indian food we had during intercity traveling was best. Also, the exploration of wax museum in kanyakumari give us lots of funny and happy memories. Also the sunrise experience at Kanyakumari pier is one of its kind, it's mesmerizing.
